blue-green waters, long stretches of white sandy beaches, desert serenity
and night life - this is Cabo San Lucas. Long known for its world renown
sportfishing, Cabo San Lucas is now being recognized as a world class dive
Located at the southernmost tip of the Baja Peninsula where the famous "lands
end" granite archway plunges into the sea separating the waters of
the Sea of Cortez from the Pacific Ocean.
From the nearby docks, dive boats can quickly transport you to all the local
dive sites as well as exploring new ones. Local Dive vessels are capable
of comfortably handling 2-25 divers and 50 tanks (ideal for club groups).
Outfitted with onboard head and some with a freshwater shower.
The Sea of
Cortez is considered to be one of the most fertile bodies of water in
the world. It supports over 800 species of fish, from cold-water California-related
species to tropical fish and pelagics such as whale sharks, giant manta
rays and hammerhead sharks.
San Lucas Bay provides excellent diving conditions. A deep submarine trench
closely follows the bay and creates an unusual marine environment that
attracts an abundance of marine life. Here the water is warm and the currents
types of dive experiences can be satisfied here, from shallow to deep,
night to wreck dives, from playful sea lions to the elusive sea horse.
Large congregations of fish are seen on the rocky slopes covered with
gorgonians and graceful sea fans. Sea lions, turtles, eels and huge gropers
are common sights here.
